Andrew Arterbury is an Assistant Professor of Christian Scriptures who focuses upon the New Testament books of Luke, Acts, and John. He began teaching at Truett in August of 2007. Previously, Andy was an Assistant Professor of Religion in Baylor University’s Interdisciplinary Core from 2003 to 2007. While housed in Baylor’s Honors College, he also held a joint appointment with Baylor’s Religion Department where he was a member of the graduate faculty.

Andy earned a B.A. from Baylor University, a M.Div. and Th.M. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Baylor University. He has published a book (Entertaining Angels: Early Christian Hospitality in its Mediterranean Setting) and a variety of articles in journals like Biblical, Interpretation, and Perspectives in Religious Studies. As a native Texan, Andy grew up attending the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne and the First Baptist Church of Port Lavaca. In addition, he served on church staffs in Austin, Waco, and Madison, New Jersey. Currently, he and his wife, Kristin, are members of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco, and they have two sons – Timothy and Daniel.
