The MacRaes came to Acadia in 1980, when Dr. MacRae established the first Chair in Evangelism and Mission in Canada. Following 12 years experience in pastoral ministry in Scotland, he served for 14 years as the General Secretary and Superintendent of the Baptist Union of Scotland. Additionally, he served extensively in Europe (including a period as President of the European Baptist Federation), with wide ministry throughout Western Europe and the Soviet bloc, and in more than 50 countries on every Continent, largely working with the Baptist World Alliance but also teaching, preaching, and conducting many conferences internationally, with a strong emphasis on evangelism, Bible teaching, pastors’ conferences, seminary teaching and more.

He served as Professor of Evangelism and Mission, which also included teaching courses in Church Growth, Church Planting, Urban Ministry, Ethics and Apologetics, for five years. From 1985 – 1998, he served as Principal (President) and Dean of Theology, during which years the Doctor of Ministry program was introduced, and affiliation to Acadia University was granted to two Nigerian Theological Colleges and one Graduate Seminary in Hong Kong. Since his “retirement” in 1998, he has continued, as Professor-Emeritus, to teach Evangelism and some courses in Preaching, and continues, since early 2000, to serve as Director of the expanding Doctor of Ministry program. Fuller details are in his Curriculum Vitae.
