The Anthenaeum of Ohio is a graduate school of theology located in the Mt. Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1829, the Athenaeum of Ohio is the third-oldest seminary program in the United States and is home to an outstanding theological and historical library, with some works dating back to the 13th century. Sponsored by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati, its main function is to prepare graduates to serve the Catholic Church as priests, deacons, and lay ministers. Accordingly, it is organized into three divisions: Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West, the Special Studies Division, and the Lay Pastoral Ministry Program. Current enrollment exceeds 250 students, and the school is authorized to grant the following degrees: Master of Arts in Biblical Studies, Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling, Master of Arts in Religion, Master of Arts in Theology, and Master of Divinity.
