Catholic University of America, School of Religious Studies
The Catholic University of America was founded in 1889 by Bishop John Lancaster Spalding, and is located in Washington D.C. The university has over 6,000 students on its campus, and promotes Catholicism in an environment which emphasizes religious freedom, curiosity, and intellectual rigor. The School of Theology and Religious Studies belongs to the Washington Theological Consortium. It offers graduate-level studies in seven academic areas, including Biblical Studies, Church History, Historical and Systematic Theology, Liturgical Studies and Sacramental Theology, Moral Theology and Ethics, Religion and Culture, and Pastoral Studies. The school grants civil, ecclesiastical, or pastoral degrees up to the masters and doctorate levels.
