Lecturer in Pastoral Theology, is a graduate of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary (Diploma in Orthodox Theology) and American International College in Springfield Mass. (Bachelor of Arts degree).

He has taught at the Seminary since 1995; his field of expertise is Mission and Evangelization. To that course he brings 24 years of field experience as founding pastor of Holy Cross Mission Parish in Williamsport, Pa. He has overseen the construction of a new Carpathian-style wooden church and a recently completed parish fellowship center. Today the congrega tion is flourishing, with many young families and active outreach ministries to area colleges and correctional facilities.

Fr. Kovatak has written two booklets The Orthodox Family and From This Day Forth, as well as numerous articles for The Orthodox Church, Alive in Christ and several other publications, including the OCA Resource Handbook. He is an in-demand guest lecturer and retreat speaker, focusing on parish growth and person al spirituality. Father Daniel is the founder and the director of the Bicentennial Male Chorus. He is a former member of the Administrative Committee and Metropolitan Council of the OCA and clergy chair of the 12th AAC of the OCA in Pittsburgh. Presently he serves on the Editorial Board for the Pastors to Pastors newsletter and is Vice-Dean of the Wilkes-Barre Deanery. He was given the 1999 Ecumenical Service Award by the United Churches of Lycoming County. He has been elevated to the rank of “Archpriest” and given the privilege of wearing the Jeweled Cross.
