Dr. Yeago has been a member of the faculty at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary since 1988. In October of 1995 the Board of Trustees of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary formally established the Michael Peeler Chair in Systematic Theology and appointed Dr. David S. Yeago as the first Michael Peeler Associate Professor of Systematic Theology.

Dr. Yeago continues to write for publication and with his seminary colleagues Professor Yeago helped draft the Faculty Position Paper on Spirituality and Spiritual Formation. As another important part of his work as a teacher of theology in the church he has served on various ecumenical dialogues. He is a member of the ELCA dialog with the Orthodox Church. He has served as a consultant for the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Commission on Unity, co-sponsored by the Lutheran World Federation and the Vatican’s Pontifical Council on Christian Unity, and was a member of the dialogue with the Moravian Church which led to a full communion agreement in 1997.
