David Sharrard served the church in many capacities before joining the LTS faculty. He has been a minister of youth, choir director, organist, associate minister on a staff in a large inner-city church, and pastor of three congregations in both rural and suburban settings. He is a native of Washington State and maintains his membership in the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. From 1987-1988, he served as acting dean of the Seminary.

Dr. Sharrard is a clinical member of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education and serves as the Seminary’s liaion professor with that association. He often speaks at church events and with professional groups in the helping profession. He leads workshops in marriage and family enrichment, personal growth, and spiritual formation.

He and his wife, Ruth, have two grown sons, Mark and Aaron.
