Dr. Wilhite is a native of Columbus, Georgia, and he has served on the pastoral staffs of two churches in Birmingham, Alabama. After his living and studying in Scotland, he taught for two years at Seattle Pacific University. At Truett, he teaches Introduction to Christian History and Christian Texts and Traditions 1. His recently published monograph is entitled Tertullian the African: An Anthropological Reading of Tertullian’s Context and Identities (De Gruyter, 2007), and he has just begun work co-authoring The Doctrine of the Church: A Guide for the Perplexed with Matt R. Jenson (forthcoming with T&T Clark, 2009). Outside of his academic work, he enjoys spending time with his family (including the basset hound), being outdoors, and playing anything from the blues to bluegrass on his guitar autographed by Waylon Jennings.
