Betty Sue Brewster has taught language and culture acquisition in over 80 countries. Herself a missionary kid from Venezuela, she has also enjoyed missionary service in Mexico, Bolivia, and Kenya. Together with her late husband Tom Brewster, she developed the LAMP (Language Acquisition Made Practical) system of language learning, a method that focuses on relationship and interaction. Besides Language Acquisition Made Practical (LAMP) (1976), she has authored several helpful books and articles, such as Community is My Classroom (1986), Pronunciation Activities for Language Learners (1985), and Twelve Tips for Language Learners (1994). Beyond her teaching at the School of Intercultural Studies, she often spends time learning and ministering on YWAM’s ship, Anastasis.
