Dr. Fredrica Harris Thompsett is a well-known leader in the Episcopal Church. A historian and theologian, she has taught at Episcopal seminaries for over 35 years. Professor Harris Thompsett joined the EDS faculty in 1983, where for fourteen years she also served as Academic Dean. She is the author of several articles and books which focus on the history of leadership among women and men, lay and ordained. The coeditor of a recent Episcopal bestseller, Confronted by God, The Essential Verna Dozier, two other recent books are Deeper Joy: Lay Women and Vocation in the 20th Century Episcopal Church (co-edited with Sheryl Kujawa-Holbrook), and a popular volume in the New Church’s Teaching Series, Living with History. Professor Harris Thompsett is best known in baptismal ministry circles for We Are Theologians, recently reprinted as a Seabury Classic. Currently she and Sheryl Kujawa-Holbrook are working highlighting shared leadership in small communities, Born of Water, Born of Spirit. Professor Thompsett is also sought-after as a keynote speaker, conference leader, and preacher. Her reflections on Baptism are now available from EDS in a professionally-produced DVD and Study Guide entitled “Wade in the Water.”
