Dr. Kao teaches and researches on issues related to human rights, inter-religious cooperation and conflict, feminism, and environmental ethics. She has also published chapters and articles on a variety of topics, including ecofeminism, religion and violence, and religious rhetoric in the public sphere. An active member of the American Academy of Religion, Kao serves on the national steering committee of the “Law, Religion, and Culture” Group, and is also active in the Society of Christian Ethics, where she is co-convener of the Asian and Asian-American Working Group.
