Assistant Professor of Marital and Family Therapy, Evangelical School of Theology

B.S.W., Millersville University,
M.S.W., University of Pittsburgh,
Post graduate work, Center for Contextual Therapy,
Ph.D., Union Institute & University,

Janet was employed at Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic in Pittsburgh before she and her husband moved to Lebanon county 20 years ago. Since then she has been working as a marital and family therapist at her practice in Fredericksburg, PA except for a short sabbatical at Macha Mission Hospital in Zambia in 1993.

In addition to her work at the seminary and her clinical practice, Janet serves on the board of Philhaven Behavioral Healthcare facility, and is active at Gingrich’s Mennonite Church where she serves as congregational chair and occasionally leads worship. She has led retreats, presented at professional seminars, and contributed to a number of publications. She is a licensed marital and family therapist and approved supervisor and clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Her research interest is in dialogue in the midst of loyalty dynamics between and across the generations of the family.

Janet’s husband, Jim, is a family physician specialized in geriatrics. They have found the journey of birthing and raising three sons to have shaped their lives in a myriad of ways! Josh studies jazz guitar performance in Philadelphia; Alan is finishing high school and loves performing in local theatre; and Seth is completing middle school and is an avid soccer player. A favorite vacation spot is Algonquin Canada where the family packs all of their supplies for 3- 5 days in canoes, and paddles into the wild. The call of the loons on the lake amidst the setting sun and the eerily enticing howl of the wolves during the night is a refreshing counterpoint to the demanding pace of 21st century life.
