Publications/projects: Dr. Clarke continues to explore the practical application of the work Dr. Habib Davanloo, the father of Intensive Short-term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (IS-TDP) with the central tenets of pastoral psychology. To this end, Jody is involved with the development of the Maritime Centre for Teaching and Research in Davanloo’s ISTDP. During the 2006- 2007 academic year, Jody was on sabbatical—Jody is in complete agreement with God, Genesis 2:1-3—that in fact sabbatical time is a very good idea. Much of his sabbatical time was devoted to writing and research—and while this does not sound like a rest, it was a lovely recalibration of energy and imagination; his areas include The Dynamic Nature of the Therapeutic Covenant, The Metapsychology of Forgiveness, Anxiety and the Physiology of God and A New Look at Pastoral Diagnosis. While Jody took the year to pull back from national and international conferences, he did a number of presentations within the Maritime context including work with the local Alzheimer’s Conference, the United Churches in Inverness County, Dalhousie’s Department of Psychiatry, several regional palliative care services and the Victorian Order of Nurses.
