Johanna Selles is Associate Professor of Christian Education at Emmanuel College. She completed her doctorate at OISE/UT in the History and Philosophy of Education. Her book Methodists and Women’s Education in Ontario, 1825-1936 was published by McGill-Queen’s University Press. As an R.N. she has worked in a variety of hospital, community and research settings. At Yale she worked with telemedicine and distance education at the School of Medicine. At the Yale School of Nursing she was a research associate on a project funded by the Donaghue Foundation that examined the effect of the health care relationship on patient adherence. She served as Clinical Information Specialist at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT. She is currently working on a history of student Christian voluntary movements, entitled A Sacrament of Fellowship: The World Student Christian Federation and Christian Internationalism, 1896-1920.” Her interests include the practice of spiritual writing as a step in spiritual formation and health.
