During a thirty year period Joe Tortorici engaged in pastoral ministry in urban Detroit, counseling ministry in rural Idaho, administration and graduate teaching at Providence College in RI, and directed a field education program of Catholic seminary students in Washington, DC. Along the way he earned two graduate degrees at Michigan State University in the area of family studies. His current project is sabbatical research on the value of intercultural immersions in seminary curriculum in the development of cultural competency for ministry.
