Joshua Benson received his Ph.D. in Historical Theology from Saint Louis University in 2007 where he focused on medieval theology, especially the thought of Saint Bonaventure. He also holds an MA in Franciscan Studies from the Franciscan Institute (St. Bonaventure University, 2002) and a BA in Philosophy (Canisius College, 2000). Joshua has taught at Saint Louis University and Saint Bonaventure University. During the 2007-2008 academic year he taught at St. Louis University and worked on a project to create a multi-lingual database of the landmark series Francis of Assisi: Early Documents and Clare of Assisi: Early Documents. He has published in the journal Franciscan Studies on Saint Bonaventure’s thought and writings and has numerous articles forth coming on Bonaventure and other Franciscan thinkers of the thirteenth century. Originally hailing from Pennsylvania, he has deep roots in the Buffalo, New York area where he met his wife.
