Kathryn Johnson, a native of Denver, Colorado, received her Ph.D. from Yale University. Her dissertation, Avoiding Lessing’s Ditch, was a study of understandings of the fourth gospel in the 19th century Church of England, a time when questions were raised by historical scholarship intersected the inheritance of the church’s creeds and worship. In addition to this interest in the history of biblical interpretation, her courses reflect her love for the history of Christian devotion and theological reflection, especially in the early church, and particularly in the experience of women.
