Katie Day holds the Charles A. Schieren Chair in Church and Society at TheLutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. As a sociologist, withdegrees in social ethics and theology as well, she teaches courseswhich draw heavily on both the social sciences and social ethics. Shealso directs the Metropolitan/Urban Program at LTSP. Her research interestshave included extensive studies in African American congregations,cross-cultural volunteerism and faith-based involvement in economicdevelopment, community organizing and social services. Currently she isdirecting a research project focused on religious communities alongGermantown Ave. Dr. Day is ordained in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
