Together with his wife, Dr. Snider has been a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators since 1977, serving in Ghana and Cameroon until mid 1999. He helped complete the translation of the Chumburung New Testament in Ghana (1987) and served as Linguistics Coordinator in Cameroon 1993-99. He is currently an International Linguistics Consultant (1995-). His previous teaching experience includes linguistics courses at Leiden University (Netherlands) and University of Yaounde I (Cameroon), as well as numerous workshops in many countries in Africa. He has published many articles and books on the phonetics and phonology of tone, which remains his primary areas of research interest.
