Mac Warford is a native Kentuckian, reared in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and ordained as a minister in the United Church of Christ. He has served congregations in Kentucky, Vermont, and New York.

Dr. Warford has been a member of the faculties of Saint Louis University and Union Theological Seminary in New York. He has served as president of Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis and Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine.

In teaching and writing, he has focused on leadership, education, and ministry. Most recently he was the editor of Practical Wisdom: On Theological Teaching and Learning and the author of Becoming A New Church: Reflections on Faith and Calling. His writings have appeared in journals and periodicals such as The Christian Century, Christianity and Crisis, Encounter, Lumen Vitae, Theological Education, and In Trust.

Dr. Warford serves as director of the Lexington Seminar, a program research project on theological teaching for the church’s ministries supported by Lilly Endowment, Inc.

His wife, Pam, is an English professor, and they have two children, Mark and Wendy.
