Margaret Mary Kelleher was born and raised in the South Bronx, N.Y. of Irish parents who handed on a love of their country and culture. She is a member of the Order of St. Ursula and serves on the Board of Trustees of the College of New Rochelle which was founded by the Ursulines. Margaret Mary received her Ph.D. from the School of Religious Studies of the Catholic University of America in 1983 with a specialization in Liturgy and Spirituality. She was a member of the faculty of Fordham University’s Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education from 1983-1986 when she accepted a position on the faculty of the Department of Religion and Religious Education in Catholic University’s School of Religious Studies. In the course of her years in that department, she served as Assistant Chair for Doctoral Programs and as Chair. She was a member of the Advisory Committee to the Episcopal Board of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy from 1992-2000. Her research interests include the relationship between liturgy and culture, liturgical ecclesiology, method in liturgical/sacramental theology, ritual studies, and liturgical spirituality. She has published articles in the following journals: Worship, Journal of Ritual Studies, Questions Liturgiques, The Living Light, Louvain Studies, U.S. Catholic Historian. She is a member of the North American Academy of Liturgy, the Catholic Academy of Liturgy, the Catholic Theological Society of America, and the American Academy of Religion.
