After serving as an Army chaplain for 22 years, Phil Conner came to Golden Gate Seminary in 2009. His military career provided numerous opportunities for ministry and leadership training, including a Clinical Pastoral Education residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., three years as chaplain for an Army addiction treatment facility, and three years as the Curriculum Developer, Department of Pastoral Ministry Training for the Army Medical Department Center and School, Fort Sam Houston, TX. He taught Critical Incident Stress Management courses throughout the United States, Germany and Guam.

Phil’s experience in Golden Gate Seminary’s D.Min. program was essential to his formation as a minister, an administrator and an educator. The opportunity to serve as the Director of the D.Min. program brings together his original call to the Gospel ministry, his love for teaching, and his excitement about Golden Gate’s D.Min. degree.

Phil is married to Dee. They have one daughter, Diana. Their son, Daniel, is married to Hannah. Dee and the children are also educators.

When possible, Phil surfs, SCUBA dives, rides his motorcycle or drives his 1960 Chevrolet El Camino.
