Dr. King led retreats and seminars and was a consultant on church effectiveness. Roy then moved into pastoral leadership by serving as pastor of mission at Bent Creek Baptist Church in Asheville from 1986 to 1991. He assisted this rapidly growing congregation by providing direction and development of small groups, missions and evangelism ministries. From 1991 to 1997 he pastored Alliance Bible Fellowship in Boone, North Carolina.
