She received a B.S. from Valley Forge Christian College, 1983; a M.A. from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, 1990; and a Ph.D. from Harvard University, 2001.

Dr. Richter has spoken in various academic arenas, including The Society of Biblical Literature, The Epworth Institute, district conferences and continuing education lectures. She has also presented lectures at Tel Zeitah and Tel Dan (archeological excavations).

In 2008, she was inducted in the Sigma Chi Pi Honor Society of the Assemblies of God Commission on Christian Higher Education. She was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Service Award from the Valley Forge Christian College and Alumni Association. Some of her awards and recognitions include a listing in the Who’s Who Among American Teachers and Educators (2007); the Asbury Theological Seminary’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2006); The Graduate Society Dissertation Completion Fellowship, Harvard University (1999); Derek Bok Certificate of Distinction in Teaching, Harvard University (1996-1997); and several others.

Dr. Richter has written numerous books, including her most recent, The Epic of Eden: A Christian Entry into the Old Testament (InterVarsity Press, 2008).

Dr. Richter is married to Steven Tsoukalas. They have two children.
