Focus has been 17th and 18th century social/cultural history. Found an interest in the interplay between the larger social contexts of ethnicity and ways of knowing the religious structures and conflicts found in the Middle Colonies of North America. Most of work has been in the religious roots of British North America and British North American religious history.
In recent years I have pursued an examination of the fundamentalist/modernist controversy as part of a larger social/cultural context of 19th and 20th American life and of Jonathan Blanchard, evangelicalism and abolition within the context of 19th century sectional and religious conflicts.
