Yea Sun Kim has been at Fuller from 1996 to the present. A licensed clinical social worker, she maintains a limited private practice in addition to her role as professor of family counseling and Korean family studies. Kim teaches in the Korean Doctor of Ministry, MDiv, and MA programs.

One of the rewards of Kim’s position has been to help students develop family ministry programs for Korean churches, which are vital to healthy church growth. She teaches and leads workshops in Korea as well as in the U.S. A former professor at Ewha Women’s University, Kim is a member of the American Family Therapy Academy, and a member and approved supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. Her publications include The Korean Church and Family Ministry (2007), Development of Family Therapy in Korea (1994), Korean Families and Family Therapy (1987), and 56 articles, including “Understanding Asian Americans: Problems and Possibilities for Cross-Cultural Counseling” in the Journal of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity in Social Work and “Guidelines and Strategies for Cross-Cultural Counseling with Korean American Clients” in A Quarterly Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development.
